An Attitude of Gratitude

04.11.2014
Emmanuel Community
weekly devotional
I’m struck by the connection between prayer and thanksgiving, and how easily it can be missed. I remember as a child learning to include thanksgiving in the ‘recipe’ of my prayer – yet somehow it has often become a neglected ingredient.

Called to Relationship, Worship & Mission

28.07.2014
Luke Plant
Administrator
We are called to relationships, to worship and to mission together. One place this is clearly seen is at the Sunday Eucharist. We invite all who participate in our Eucharists to join us in this mission.

Motherhood - a Sacred Journey

Our nine year old said, "Mum, it's like you are his centre, he keeps coming back to you." I sit and reflect on this and think, she is so right, his adventures start off so small, to get up and down, then he will explore the room, the house, the yard and the kindy where we pick up his sister. But he always comes back to me.

May - The Month of Mary

30.04.2014
Carrie McCormack
Liturgy Team
This is the Church's Month of Mary. Let's call forth her help and God's graces to be with us. Mary sets a model of response to the Holy Spirit that is so practical. She takes it on in her body, she experiences the fullness of being pregnant with Jesus and also witnessing his death and resurrection. This woman knows how to trust God. WOW!

Don't Just Go Through The Motions

12.03.2014
Luke Plant
Administrator
As we enter into another season of Lent, we seek to draw closer to God, deepen the experience of our faith and to prepare our hearts for the great celebration of Easter. Yet even with all our best intentions, the temptation can be to 'just go through the motions'.

After the Feast

13.02.2014
Carrie McCormack
Liturgy Team
It's time to remake the prayer table for a new year, buy new candles, put our Bibles back on top of the pile books from our holiday reading and plan some fasting and perhaps even a retreat. It's like we are moving from an oceans king tide that brings in a feast of fish and adventure to a regular, consistent, even boring tide.

Guess Who's Coming to Dinner!

02.12.2013
Chantale Wilson
eKids Coordinator
Advent is all about preparing for Jesus coming at Christmas. I love that the Church in her wisdom marks this as the start of our year! What an amazing opportunity to take on the disposition that will last all through the year to come!

Vision for the Future

18.07.2013
Scotty McDonald
Youth Ministry Coordinator
I’ve become aware in the last few years of just how strongly teenagers feel a call on their heart to, be part of something bigger and to have an impact on their world. Not only do these come from a primal desire to be loved and accepted, but also a spiritual yearning to serve one another

Proclaiming a Personal Pentecost

02.06.2013
Pat Keady
Worship Director
You could sense the Holy Spirit beginning to 'fall afresh' in the room as we played. It was a powerful moment; at the conclusion a few were wiping tears away and you knew the Holy Spirit had been quietly at work.

Making My Home in Christ

When I heard these words, I realised that it's not just about Christ having a place in our hearts, but it's also about us residing in Christ. Perhaps I am being pedantic with words, but this realisation has drawn me into a deeper reality about what it means to live a life surrendered to and guided by Jesus Christ.

Leading Children to Easter

24.03.2013
Chantale Wilson
eKids Coordinator
Easter is a great opportunity to begin or grow a culture of prayer with your family. More than anything make space for Jesus in your family this Holy Week and beyond. Listen to Him. Ask your kids ‘what did Jesus say to you?’ Be ready to have them ask you.

Igniting a Generation

01.02.2013
Luke Plant
Youth Ministry Coordinator
Over the last decade we’ve witnessed thousands of young people responding to the call of Jesus. There is a new generation being ignited in the faith – a generation who are young, passionate, seeking the truth and growing in the faith. This is a movement of God’s grace in the Church, and a sign of the New Evangelisation of our times.

Entertaining Angels

Laura Otto

Whenever I use to hear the word ‘hospitality’ I never thought it was for me. I always thought people gifted with ‘hospitality’ were really good at serving food and had a speciality in making coffees and teas. That wasn’t me...

The Four Es of Ignite

13.09.2012
Luke Plant
Youth Ministry Coordinator
We are often asked about the vision and purpose of the Ignite Conference – what is it all really about and how is it different to the other conferences and youth events around Australia. We sum up Ignite with four 'E' words.

Beauty of Worship

Pat Keady
Worship Director
I want to share about something beautiful; the beauty of worship.

Appreciation for Community

22.06.2012
Michaela Hillam
Ignite Project Officer
Spending time away from Brisbane has helped to bring about in me a new appreciation for community life. I recently went on a short trip down south, and whilst I was only gone for five days, it has highlighted the need for surrounding oneself with people actively pursuing a relationship with God.

Promises Beyond Imagining

05.06.2012
Luke Plant
Youth Ministry Coordinator
At Mass on Sunday, we sang an old emmanuelworship song “I’ve got some dreams, I’ve got some promises that you could never ever imagine…” . As we sang this song, I was reminded that God has a huge vision for us – individually, as a community, as a Church...

From the Heart

03.05.2012
Roby Curtis
Blind Eye Ministries Coordinator
I have a strong sense that God would seek to increase the capacity and ability in which we evangelise and reach those in need of Jesus. I also believe that He would desire us to draw from the place of worship and deep connection with Him both in corporate worship gatherings and in the Sacraments.

Knowing God

10.04.2012
Pat Keady
Worship Director
Recently I was sitting before the Lord in prayer and I was reminded about how amazing it is that I - a lowly human being - can sit before the Lord of the universe and be completely myself, in freedom of conscience, baring my thoughts and soul to the Lord as I would with a friend.

Lenten Journey of Grace

23.03.2012
Michaela Hillam
Ignite Project Officer
Although the year of Grace does not officially begin until Pentecost, through my reflections on Lent, I feel as though my journey with it has already begun. Grace is defined as “undeserved favour.” I give thanks to Christ for the undeserved favour upon me and the opportunity to reflect on this throughout our Lenten season.

Beyond the Big Event

03.02.2012
Luke Plant
Youth Ministry Coordinator
Our Zero Gravity camp last month finished up with 200 teenagers and leaders on a spiritual high. Anyone who has had any sort of mountain top faith experience knows the perils of ‘coming down the mountain’ and back to real life. These experiences can give us new energy, new direction and renewed faith, but we are not meant to live on the mountain.
