Children and families
Our Children and Families vision is to create opportunities for primary school aged children to personally encounter Jesus and to pave ways for them to find their place in the Church now, while laying the foundation for a life of faith and mission in the years to come.
We do this by:
regular Children’s liturgy of the Word that makes scripture come alive!
preparation for the Sacraments of Initiation that awakens kids to the beauty and mystery of God’s presence in our lives.
offering creative opportunities for kids share richly in the seasons and celebrations of the Church in ways that are meaningful and relevant to them.
approaching all we do in that ‘current of grace’ of the Holy Spirit who calls and empowers even the youngest of us to be missionary disciples in our place and time!
Our team is passionate about evangelisation to kids and supporting parents, knowing that they are the first educators of their kids in the faith. We are always excited to welcome new kids to any of our activities!
Sunday Mass
Children's Liturgy of the Word
We offer Children’s Liturgy of the Word during Mass every Sunday during term times for primary aged children. Our Children’s Liturgy team lead a short time of breaking open the Gospel of the day through simple ritual, prayer and activities to provide liturgical reflection n a context and examples that children can embrace.
While we usually take a break over school holidays, children are always welcome at our Mass anytime - we love to have families join us!
Babies and Toddlers
Each week we have a dedicated space in a corner of the congregation for children below school age (0-4 year olds). Children and parents are welcome to sit in this space during Mass, where there are a number of works available to quietly engage young children.
Children’s Sacramental Program
Emmanuel runs a Children’s Sacramental Program each year, preparing for the Sacraments of Initiation (Confirmation, First Communion, Penance). All families welcome.
Our Sacramental Preparation usually runs over the following months:
First Reconciliation and First Communion: May-June
Confirmation: July-August

Ignite Kids (Gr 4-6)
Emmanuel also has a monthly Grade 4-6 youth group, run by Ignite Youth.
