Strategic Journey: 2024 - 2027
Next year 2025 will be our 50th Golden Jubilee as a community. That’s no small achievement! So this year we are embarking on a new Strategic Planning journey that will frame and guide the following 4 years of our life and mission, from 2024-2027.
The first phase is a Dreaming Phase. Each week from 18 February until 14 April, we’ll have a short sharing about one of the areas of our life & mission and be invited to ‘dream of what could be’ together. There’ll be an opportunity to respond via a quick survey on the day or during the week. You can view all nine ministry areas below.
This process will lead us to our open Strategic Dreaming Day on Saturday 27 April. Following this day, we will prepare for a Strategic Planning Day with our leadership and ministry teams on Saturday 8 June, before launching the Strategic Plan on Sunday 1 September!

We dream of a community where children, from the moment they are born, are welcomed, celebrated, evangelised and nurtured in the faith. We dream of a ‘family of families’ where parents are encouraged and supported as ‘first educators’ and where children grow as missionary disciples in their own right. For children and parents, our community is a place where they experience belonging and thrive through all seasons of family life. We dream of a ministry to children that is valued and well-resourced with dedicated, child-friendly spaces and paid staff.

We dream that Emmanuel will be a community where all generations feel connected and experience a sense of belonging; a HOME where people in all stages of life experience welcome; a family where no one is left out or second-guesses coming together as a community for Mass or other gatherings. We dream of a community where all can be their true selves - not fitting a mould but released in their unique God-given giftedness. We dream of a community where there is space in our life groups for people to ‘come and see’ along with our members. We see our groups growing in numbers, as vibrant and healthy places of sharing, prayer, worship, fun, support, encouragement, learning and growth. We believe that groups are the life-blood of the community. Mentoring is a pivotal part of our members lives, and where specialised care is needed, this is recognised and supported. We dream that all our people would feel empowered to love, support and nurture others, and see it as their joyful responsibility to give personal, practical support and care to others.

Our Dream is to draw everyone into the heart and mission of Emmanuel Community from the moment they enter our doors or look us up online. We create onramps and pathways for visitors that are accessible and interconnected so that everyone can find their natural next step of faith, belonging and service among us. We see hundreds of guests becoming actively engaged in our life and mission each year and many going on to become fully committed members of Emmanuel. By mapping out pathways and programs to support people on that journey, we see membership in Emmanuel exploding to a whole new level.

We dream of a community where adults in Emmanuel are being evangelised daily through worship, word, and witness. The community has a culture which promotes a constant pursuit of holiness and wholeness for the individual. We create and provide access to resources and materials which help scaffold our growth in our Catholic faith and in-depth our experience of living daily a Life in the Spirit so that we might be more responsive to our baptismal call to be missionary disciples.

Sundays are the high point of our week and worship as a community. They are the touchstone where Emmanuel’s charism and mission is experienced and lived by both our members and visitors on a regular basis. Emmanuel’s Sundays are a bold, prophetic witness of life and hope for the Catholic Church in this country!
With the Eucharist at the centre, we invite a diverse range of people to ‘experience Jesus in the power of the Spirit’ through charismatic worship, inspiring lay leadership, dynamic preaching and sacramental encounter. Our doors are wide open to welcome the unchurched, families, homeless, young adults and seniors as members of our worshipping community.
We see Sundays as more than Mass, but an experience of invitation, hospitality, community, worship, inspiration, encounter, ministry and evangelisation - with Mass at the centre. We constantly pursue a culture of excellence, first fruits, joyful service and giving the very best of ourselves to worship and celebrate the Day of Christ’s Resurrection.

We see Impact as a thriving and engaging ministry of the community that values authentic connection and communication between sponsors and their sponsor child.
We dream of every child in Masaka, Uganda having the opportunity to go to school, where their quality of life and their family is improved through engagement with impact. Through achieving tax deductibility status, public fundraising and raising awareness events, Impact will continue to thrive and grow.
A collaborative relationship exists between Holy Trinity Community team in Uganda and the Emmanuel team in Brisbane with regular engagement and touch points, strengthening the existing affiliation between EC Brisbane and HTC Uganda.

EMMANUEL CITY MISSION (ECM)
Emmanuel City Mission is about connecting the homeless and vulnerable with people who care. We believe ECM is a place that can truly bring hope and healing to the lives of people who need it most. Every day we open our doors and care for the homeless and vulnerable of our city, creating a space where they can feel safe, cared for and valued. Driven by the fire of the Holy Spirit, we believe that enacting faith with deeds for others inspires even greater generosity within and between communities. Together we can make a difference.

IGNITE YOUTH
Ignite Youth is dedicated to gathering, raising up and sending out a new generation of Catholics who are on fire for Jesus, filled with the Holy Spirit, formed in the faith and centered in the Eucharist – young people living their Catholic faith with dynamism and passion to reach out to their world with the life of the Gospel. We believe in real-world evangelisation; revealing Jesus Christ through a ministry of authentic relationships. By engaging young people where they’re at and empowering them to use their God-given gifts, our goal is to see young people not just changed for a day but transformed for life.
Ignite Youth is a ministry of Emmanuel Community, drawing together a network of youth leaders, schools, groups and individuals who share a common vision to communicate the gospel in the power of the Holy Spirit. Using contemporary culture to engage their hearts and minds, our dream is to spearhead a new evangelisation of our nation and pave a way for the Church of the future.
